the job, as it arrives

what a dissector print file contains, how it is built, and what to tell your RIP.

Every shape in the file is a real curve, and every shape is closed. Marks and margins scale with the sheet, so a four‑metre job arrives with four‑metre marks.

On the phone, the print file lands in a folder of its own, so it can be sent whole: Files → On My iPhone → dissector → print shop. Three exports are free and land there; after those the print file waits inside the app until it is bought, and arrives the moment it is.

02 the rip

not pdf/x, on purpose

why there is no output intent, and what to do instead.

Treat the inks as plain process colour: each page is one plate, screened at the angle written on it. The trim is declared inside the file; the marks sit outside it.

Ink load is held under 330%, measured as tone value sum over screen cells with the marks left out, and every page prints the job’s own figure in its margin. Under a solid line the black is the trade’s rich black — cyan under black, 200% — not four inks at 400%, so the densest place on the sheet is still a place that dries.

If your workflow requires PDF/X, tell us. Send what the RIP said, word for word — the file gets fixed, not the wording.
